Evidence suggests there are 5 steps that everyone, of all ages and abilities, can all take to improve their wellbeing:

  1. Connect – connect with the people around you: your family, friends and neighbours. Spend time developing these relationships.
  2. Be Active – you don't have to go to the gym. Take a walk, go cycling or do some indoor activity eg chair exercises, Chi Gung, Pilates etc.
  3. Keep Learning – learning new skills can give you a sense of achievement and a new confidence eg play a musical instrument, cook etc.. So why not sign up for the PASTEL Cooking Club?
  4. Give to Others – even the smallest act can count, whether it's a smile, a thank you or a kind word. Larger acts, such as volunteering at the Fromus Centre, can improve your mental wellbeing and help you build new social networks. So why not volunteer to help in the Thursday pop-up SMILE Café, at the Fromus Centre?
  5. be Mindful – be more aware of the present moment, including your feelings and thoughts, your body and the world around you. Some people call this awareness "mindfulness", and it can positively change the way you feel about life and how you approach challenges.

The inclusive PASTEL Wellbeing Club is aimed at reducing social isolation and improve wellbeing for those adults with additional needs eg adults with learning disabilities as well as those who are living alone and / or feeling anxious or depressed. Each session includes a mix of socialising, group singing, music and and some gentle Chi Gung chair exercises.

This social group is all about joining with others to relax, exercise your mind, body and lungs and gain that feel good factor.

The PASTEL Wellbeing Club aims to relieve stress, foster self-expression and promote happiness.

The club runs weekly on a Friday, for 2 hours (10am to mid-day) at The Fromus Centre, Seaman Avenue, Saxmundham.

The cost, per 2-hour session, is £10, which covers the professional tutor, room hire, refreshments and admin expenses.

Free “taster sessions” are available
